Three sample weeks for hybrid training
A good hybrid training week comes down to one simple idea: alternate the effort. Don't put two very hard sessions on the same day or three intense days in a row, and give your body time to recover. Here are three examples depending on how much time you have.
Three days a week
- Monday: full-body strength.
- Wednesday: interval run, 30 to 40 minutes.
- Saturday: WOD or circuit, running and bodyweight.
Perfect for getting started or for a busy week. Every session counts, and there's always at least one rest day between efforts.
Four days a week
- Monday: upper-body strength.
- Tuesday: easy run at conversation pace.
- Thursday: lower-body strength.
- Saturday: hard session, WOD or Hyrox-style.
Tuesday's easy run works as active recovery after Monday. Leg day sits well away from your intervals, so you show up fresh for both.
Five days a week
- Monday: strength, push.
- Tuesday: intervals.
- Wednesday: mobility or a 20 to 30 minute walk.
- Thursday: strength, pull and legs.
- Saturday: long run or Hyrox session.
The easy Wednesday isn't wasted. It's what lets you keep up five sessions week after week without running yourself into the ground.
Rules that work
- No more than two intense days in a row.
- At least one full rest day a week.
- Missed a session? Don't make it up by doubling the next day.
- Build volume gradually, not all at once.
That's exactly what Volta does for you. The app follows these rules when it plans your week, and you can swap a workout or take a rest day in one tap.
